ABOUT US

Shaftesbury Arts Centre is a Charitable Company Limited by Guarantee. Full members are members of the Company, entitled to vote at General Meetings. They have a maximum liability of £10 in the unlikely event of the failure of the Company. Shaftesbury Arts Centre is owned by it's members. It is run by a volunteer board of trustee-directors, elected for three years at the annual general meeting, whose responsibility is to decide centre policy and strategy and monitor its financial performance and welfare. The board is advised on operational matters by a management committee consisting of representatives from each of the activity groups and function areas. Both bodies meet monthly. The management committee meets monthly. The Directors are: Myra Wood, Richard Thomas, Stephen McDadd, Simon Hunt, Denis Scott, Paul Schilling, John Cadmore, Sheila Himmel. Sue Reeve is Company Secretary.

The Centre, run wholly by volunteers, provides a programme of drama and films in the theatre and exhibitions in the gallery. There are facilities for members to take part in the various group activities listed.

Full Members are entitled to:
Participation in any of the Centre’s group activities,
Reduced prices for tickets at most performances on production of a valid membership card.
Mailings of the Centre’s Newsletter and Programme of Events.
Voting rights at the Annual General Meeting and at Extraordinary General Meetings.

Associate Members may not take an active part in any of the groups but are entitled to:
Reduced prices for tickets at most performances on production of a valid membership card.
Mailings of the Centre’s Newsletter and Programme of Events.

 Film Society Members, in addition to the Full Membership privileges, are guaranteed a seat at films during the season’s programmes.
Guest tickets for individual film evenings are available from the Box Office a week prior to each showing.
